Interreg for a Greener Europe Webinar Series – climate change adaptation and disaster risk management
The Interreg for a Greener Europe webinar series serves as a recurring platform for the Interreg community to exchange insights on Policy Objective 2 (PO2) topics. Each webinar will bring a specific PO2 theme in the spotlight.
This session will focus on climate change adaptation and disaster risk management. Disasters know no borders and Interreg provides key tools to address Disaster Risk Management (DRM) related challenges. Unprecedented climate related events are the new normal and should increase as the effects of climate change are further felt. New geopolitical, technological, and health hazards equally enhance the need for effective disaster risk management within a multi-disaster approach.
The event will begin with a global expert introduction to frame the topic, overview of current challenges tackled within the EU regulatory framework, followed by presentations of programme approaches and projects that illustrate Interreg’s contribution. A key aspect of the discussion will be identifying challenges, refining concepts, and exploring ways to enhance the visibility and impact of Interreg-funded initiatives.
