Cooperation can be complex;
our job is to make it easier.

Monitoring and legal information

Interact is co-funded by the European Union, and from direct contributions from Member States and participating countries.

You can find more information about how we report back to the contributing states in our formal documents below. A rolling summary of our Monitoring Committee meetings (Interact IV Monitoring Committee Meeting Summaries) offers insight into the current work of the programme and the steps being taken to deliver on the objectives of the programme.

Anyone wishing to contact Interact can do so directly, or reach out through your countries representatives to make a more formal inquiry or statement.

Interact III (2014-2020)

The Members of the Interact III Monitoring Committee continue to meet to discuss issues relevant to the programme closure. You can read the summary of Interact III Monitoring Committee meetings here.

The Programme also had an Operational Evaluation, and a Case-based Impact Evaluation, as well as a Programme Impact Evaluation, which highlighted the effectiveness work of the programme.

The citizens summaries from 2014-2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 provide a simple explanation of activities in a given year.

The Interact III Programme document defined the programme. It was adopted through an implementing decision, and an accompanying Annex that set out the budget.  The programme's Communication Strategy is also available.

The List of Operations of the Interact III programme is available.

Historic programme information

Interact II (2007-2013)

Interact II supported the Interreg community as well as IPA and ENPI CBC programmes (EU external borders). In order to do so, Interact resorted to harmonised tools (HIT, eMS, KEEP, European Cooperation Day, Interreg branding) and new ways of cooperation such as the recently adopted macro-regional strategies.

Interact I (2002-2006)

Interact I primarily focused on the immediate needs to support the Interreg initiative. It provided support for the implementation of the three strands of Interreg (Cross-border, Transnational and Interregional programmes) to increase efficiency, effectiveness and quality. Unlike the current programme, Interact funded projects to develop local and regional initiatives and contribute to the development of the institutions involved in Interreg.
