The Academy is the home of our training services, dedicated to enhancing knowledge-sharing and learning experiences within the Interreg community. We offer Certified Trainings and Short Courses to help all Interreg stakeholders improve their skills . All the trainings we offer are bespoke for Interreg, designed using adult-learning techniques.
We publish the Academy Calendar for our Certified Trainings every semester, to help you plan ahead!


Certified Trainings available
The Certified Trainings (CT) are in-depth and cohort-based. They take place over a 4-week period, and require up to 20 hours of your time. Once you've successfully completed a training, you are rewarded with a certificate.

Interreg project assessment, monitoring and verification
Registration deadline: May 2025 | Start date: 23 May | End date: 20 Jun | 18 hours to complete
In-person element: 17-18 June, Estonia
This CT is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive overview of the project assessment, monitoring and verification processes which would allow for projects to be effectively implemented at programme level.
It includes a mandatory in-person component.

Interreg programme introduction

This CT is designed to provide participants with a clear overview of how Interreg programmes function. It will allow for a comprehensive overview of the overall structure of programmes, and the roles and responsibilities of the different stakeholders involved.
It is an online training, with mandatory components at set times.

Fundamentals of Interreg programme communication
Registration deadline: 05 May 2025 | Start date: 07 May | End date: 24 May | 20 hours to complete
In-person element: 21-22 May, Austria, Vienna
This CT will gear you up with the necessary knowledge on communication rules, tools, practices and approaches that you will likely need in carrying out your programme communication duties. We will build up the knowledge with the online learning courses, and build on that knowledge with practical assignments, networking, interactive webinars and events.
It includes a mandatory in-person component.

Strategic approaches to Interreg programme management

This CT is designed for individuals who play a role in strategic decision-making in Interreg programmes. These include managers of programme bodies and Monitoring Committee members.

This CT is designed specifically for beginner-level controllers responsible for verifying the legality, regularity, and eligibility of project expenditures in Interreg projects.
It is an online training, with mandatory components at set times.

SCOs for practitioners

In-person element: 19-20 March, Bratislava, Slovakia
This certified training offers a journey through the entire project life cycle (PLC) with SCOs (Simplified cost Options).

Interreg project management

In-person element: 25-26 March, Lisbon, Portugal
This CT is mainly dedicated to tproject officers in Interreg programmes, particularly those working in Joint Secretariats or Managing Authorities, and those who work with projects applicants and beneficiaries on a daily basis .The training covers fundamental aspects of project management.

Video making in Interreg
Registration deadline: 07 February 2025 | Start date: 07 Feb | End date: 07 Mar | 15 hours to complete
In-person element: 26-27 February, Alicante, Spain
This CT is open to all Interreg experts who plan to contribute to in-house video making in their programme. While communication experts are the most likely target group for this training, it is also useful for high-level management experts who might have to speak on camera from time to time.
It includes a mandatory in-person component.

Interreg for beginners

This CT is designed to help beginners in the Interreg community become familiar with Interreg, also known as European Territorial Cooperation, by learning about the history, evolution and the positive impact it has had on the European regions.

Interreg evaluation practitioners
Registration deadline: 24 January 2025 | Start date: 24 Jan | End date: 27 Feb | 20 hours to complete
This CT is designed for all Interreg programme officers who are actively involved in the field of evaluation, or who are experienced in the field of evaluation. This training provides participants with a solid understanding of evaluation tasks, and offers both hands-on experience and the practical knowledge needed to complete evaluation tasks. For those who are less experienced in evaluation, we recommend the Interreg evaluation foundations CT.
It is an online training, with mandatory components at set times.

Short Courses available
Short courses cover specific topics in a condensed format. Offered online and at a self-paced level, they are available to anyone, at any time. While they do not include practical components or lead to a certificate, they provide valuable, flexible learning opportunities.

Novelties in Interreg VI revealed | Duration 7 hours
This course will give a complete, comprehensive and concise introduction to new elements in the regulatory package for the 2021-2027 period for Interreg programmes.
Interreg project characteristics | Duration 40 Minutes
Learn how the EU cohesion policy, Interreg's policy objectives, the 4 strands of Interreg programmes and the Interreg programmes in general relate to these core characteristics. The course also includes the 4 core characteristics, how they translate into Interreg projects and what they mean in practice for project developers.
Introduction to designing presentations | Duration 45 minutes
Developing good presentation skills is as important as having the knowledge and expertise to do your job. Presenting information clearly and effectively is a key skill needed to get your message across. This course covers the basics of designing a presentation and how this can help you to communicate complex topics effectively.
How to lobby for your Interreg results? | Duration: 1.5 hours
In this course you will learn about the basics of lobbying at EU level, what it is and why do it. You can also learn who the main actors involved in that process are, how EU decisions are made, how to lobby and which tools could be useful to you. You will also get practical advice and guidance on how to draft a lobbying strategy, as well as many useful links to help you through that process.
Making your writing work | Duration 1 hour
This Plain Language course will show you how to write in a simpler, clearer and more direct style than you do today.
Introduction to facilitation skills | Duration 45 minutes
We offer facilitation skills sessions at some of our trainings. This course has been developed as a preparation for the face-to-face trainings. It covers the basics of facilitation skills, and how they can help you achieve your objectives.
