Interreg Surgery: The sub-partner approach

Procedures Project life cycle

The aim of the Interreg Surgery series of events is to put the spotlight on innovative programme management approaches.

At this event, we will be looking at the “sub-partner” approach. The aim of this approach is to open the programme to as wide a participation as possible, and to make Interreg funding accessible to organisations with limited financial or administrative capacity. This issue of increasing participation is a challenge all Interreg programmes face.

During a short and interactive session, attendees will have the chance to examine this approach in detail and ask questions of a programme already using this practice.

The aim of the event is to inspire participants with innovative approaches to widespread issues. By the end of the session, participants will have gained information on whether the “sub-partner” approach, or similar, could also be applied to their programme.

Who is it this Interreg Surgery for?

The event is intended for Interreg practitioners interested in learning about innovative practices for increasing participation in their programmes. Participants will be confirmed based on registration

A few words about the Interreg Surgery

Approaching the mid-way point in the programming period, makes it the perfect time for Interreg programmes to join the Interreg Surgery—Interact’s new concept for an upcoming series of online events. The aim of these "Interreg Surgeries" is to give space for the Interreg project officers to get inspiration from good practises, identify different approaches, share learning on challenges they face linked to programme and project implementation.

During the Interreg Surgery launch on December 12, 2024, participants from various Interreg programmes shared the challenges that keep them awake at night——issues requiring inspiration, potential solutions or a proactive approach from experts within the Interreg community.

A wide range of issues were raised, including assessment, SCOs, capitalization, Jems, and pre-funding. These were communicated to Interact experts already working on these topics to ensure efficiency and avoid wasting valuable time when addressing needs. The prioritization of these issues by participants has guided us in shaping the topics for the upcoming Interreg Surgery events, where experts from Interreg programmes are invited to get inspiration and discuss.
