Green public procurement in practice
Interact will organize this workshop on Green public procurement in collaboration with Valentina Schippers-Opejko, Coordinator of UAEU – Urban Agenda for the EU. This workshop will provide essential knowledge with examples of implementing green, sustainable, circular and innovative procurement practices across the Interreg programmes. By presenting key insights into green public procurement and project examples, we aim to inspire and guide future projects leading to tangible benefits for programmes and the environment.
The workshop will also present successful project examples and lessons learned from the Interreg programmes that encourage more green approaches. It will also provide a platform for discussing the opportunities and challenges faced by programmes as a critical policy tool in achieving environmental objectives by implementing projects aimed at procuring goods, services or works with a reduced environmental impact. Interact will compile all the presented projects into a brochure, which will be published and accessible on the Interact website. As key points of discussion, the role of green public procurement in supporting environmental goals, implementation of energy efficiency measures such as reduced costs and extended product lifecycles, the positive impact on urban areas, enhanced infrastructure, improved urban aesthetics, reduced greenhouse gas emissions (e.g., CO2), and increased longevity and value of the goods, services and works.
This event is open to the staff from Interreg programmes, managing authorities and joint secretariats, and other relevant programme bodies, national contact points, monitoring committee members who are actively involved in thematic work related to green public procurement.
The agenda with the speakers will be published soon.
