Mediterranean Lab Group: Thematic Pole Natural Risks
The first thematic pole which has been developed by the Lab Group relates to natural risks in general, with special focus on forest fire risks.
The analysis carried out under this thematic pole covers a wide range of hazards such as floods, forest fires, drought, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, land slides and avalanches. In total, in the Mediterranean area, more than 80 projects addressing natural risks have been co-financed since the year 2000. Two workshops in 2010 and 2011 offered clustering opportunities for these projects (especially those dealing with forest fires) and assessed these risks in light of different EU programmes/ initiatives and strategies.
