Latest Amendments To Council Regulation (EC) No 1083/2006

In the past few weeks, the Council adopted a series of amendments to the General Regulation. These aim at simplifying programming and management of the funds and offering a rapid response to the effects of the financial crisis on the European economy

On 18 December 2008, Council Regulation (EC) No 1341/2008 was adopted, which amends Regulation (EC) No 1083/2006. This amendment concerns Article 55(5) on revenue-generating projects: the €200.000 threshold under which "Member States may adopt procedures proportionate to the amounts concerned for monitoring the revenues generated by operations whose total cost is below EUR 200.000", is replaced by a EUR 1.000.000 threshold.

On 19 January 2009, a new amendment of the General Regulation was adopted by the Council (Council Regulation (EC) No 85/2009). It concerns articles 44, 46, 56, 78 and 82. of particular relevance for programmes under the European Territorial Cooperation objective is the amendment of Article 82 on the increased advance payment to the programmes.

NB: this latest amendment (85/2009) is still subject to approval by the European Parliament before final adoption.
