"European Territorial Cooperation beyond 2013" - Consultation Workshop
01-02.06.2010
|
Brussels, Belgium
This year is critical for preparations of the EU Structural Fund programming period 2014-2020. The European Commission outlined some main elements of its future strategy and initiated a wide consultation process. Most discussions on the future needed to take place during the first half of 2010 as by autumn numerous EU strategic and policy documents are to be developed feeding into the wider strategy implementation framework. With regards to the Cohesion Policy, Directorate General for Regional Policy will work during the summer on the necessary inputs to the 5th Cohesion Report, which will contain a chapter with a future policy proposal. The 5th Cohesion Report will be issued in autumn 2010. At the end of 2010 the future proposal will be discussed at the Cohesion Forum and in spring 2011 it should be submitted to the European Council.
In light of the above, INTERACT offered a platform for territorial cooperation practitioners to contribute to the process by organising a workshop on the future of the European Territorial Cooperation. The workshop took place on 1-2 June 2010 in Brussels, Belgium.
The following themes were addressed and discussed:
- overall strategic framework of European Territorial Cooperation
- cooperation themes
- programme set-up and management
- control and audit
The workshop built on the outcomes of two working group meetings organised in March and April. A paper summarizing the outcomes of the workshops and available here served as background for the discussions at the June workshop. The updated summary paper of all contributions (July 2010) is now available on the INTERACT Website.
