Celebrating 20 Years of Cooperation and Looking Beyond 2013
30.09.2010 | Tournai, Belgium
The Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union represented by Wallonia, in association with the European Commission and INTERACT, is organising a high-level conference dedicated to the future of european territorial cooperation.
For twenty years, INTERREG programmes have provided an instrument to promote the deepening of European integration in tangible ways, at different scales and in different fields.
Today, European Territorial Cooperation is an objective in its own right and placed as the third 'pillar' of cohesion policy on an equal footing with Convergence and Regional Competitiveness and Employment.
Bringing citizens together from different regions and on different levels to enable joint solutions, European Territorial Cooperation can clearly illustrate the benefits of European Policy and enable closer links between countries, regions and citizens.
The richness of the results from projects, and the need to make these tangible benefits visible is the driving force behind the organisation of the event "Celebrating 20 Years of Cooperation and Looking beyond 2013".
This Conference, held in Tournai (Belgium) on 30 September and 1 October 2010, will celebrate 20 years of cooperation and look at the future. It aims at giving participants a platform to address European Territorial Cooperation and to conduct an open dialogue on evolution, progress and challenges fo the future.
