The publication is aimed at politicians at all levels, civil servants, potential projects promoters and everybody with an interest in transnational cooperation. It details what the programme can offer to these target groups, and what they can expect to get from participation in an INTERREG IVB NWE project.

Since its first call for proposals in June 2002 the INTERREG IIIB NWE Programme has allocated EUR 330 million of European Regional Development Funds (ERDF). These served as co-financing for 99 quality projects aimed at enhancing sustainable development across North West Europe.

These funds were matched by project partners raising the NWE project portfolio to EUR 660 million. Strong and diverse partnerships from across seven EU member states plus Switzerland took up the challenge of tackling transnational territorial development issues head on, concentrating their efforts in five priority areas: Cities & Regions, Transport & IT, Water & Flood Risks, Nature & Heritage and Seas & Ports.
