INTERACT organised a conference to discuss and exchange information regarding the new draft regulations.

The draft legislative package for Cohesion Policy 2014-2020 was published in October 2011. Some substantial changes have been included, not only for the ERDF and the so called mainstream, but also for European Territorial Cooperation which will be subject to new approaches and modified rules if the proposals are approved by the Council and the Parliament.

In this context, INTERACT, together with all the speakers in this conference, discussed and exchanged thoughts regarding the draft proposals developed by the Commission and opened the debate regarding how to deal with the future organisation of the Funds. In particular, Territorial Cooperation has become more and more important in every programming period and its role within the Cohesion Policy has been reinforced.

Negotiations at the Council and the European Parliament are still on-going and the INTERACT Programme seized the opportunity to send suggestions for consideration. Therefore, comments by the European Territorial Cooperation programmes were compiled and this conference was a great opportunity to gather some additional opinions.
