Europe 2020

Europe 2020 is a 10-year strategy for reviving the European economy, based on a vision of ‘smart, sustainable, inclusive' growth.

These three mutually reinforcing priorities should help the EU and the Member States deliver high levels of employment, productivity and social cohesion.

The Union has set five concrete and ambitious objectives to be reached by year 2020 - on employment, innovation, education, social inclusion and climate/energy. Each Member State has adopted its own national targets in each of these areas.

In order to achieve the set targets concrete actions are being implemented. There are seven flagship initiatives included in the EU 2020 strategy and number of other thematic actions across Europe. The following flagship initiatives have been set:

developing an economy based on knowledge and innovation

Sustainable Growth

promoting a more efficient, greener and competitive economy

Inclusive Growth

fostering a high-employment economy delivering social andterritorial cohesion

Innovation

Climate, energy and mobility

Education

"Youth on the move"

Competitiveness

"An industrial policy for the globalisation era"

Fighting poverty

"European platform against poverty"
