Draft CoR Opinion on "New Perspectives for the revision of the EGTC Regulation" was adopted

The Draft CoR Opinion on "New Perspectives for the revision of the EGTC Regulation" presented by the rapporteur Mr Alberto Nuñez Feijoo, was almost unanimously adopted with 29 out of 35 amendments approved during the 5^th COTER meeting on 16 November.

The draft opinion adopted by the Coter Commission – Mr. Núñez Feijóo underlined -will strengthen the role of the regions and the Cross-Border Cooperation. It will assure a more trustworthy legal framework which shall improve a more reliable operational and founds management; on the other hand, it will prepare the stakeholders to the new challenges envisaged by EU 2014 budget reform. The opinion, in order to attract more cohesion funds, envisages several modifications such as the previsions of economic supports for CBC associations and to give more credit for CBC projects presented by EGTCs.

Furthermore, the opinion proposes the simplification procedures to create CBC partnerships, to regulate the procedures for the presentations of EGTCs projects and to govern the possibility of third countries to enter in an EGTC.
