Cross-border Programmes
Cross-border cooperation policy is about establishing links across national boundaries to enable a joint approach to common problems and opportunities.
Each of the 52 cross-border programmes formulate agreed cross-border “analysis and response” strategies in order to enable a better use of resources, a more intense exchange of information and ideas, job creation and easier access to transport.
Cross-border cooperation deals with the following issues:
- Entrepreneurship, by developing SMEs, tourism, culture and trade.
- Natural resources, by increasing the efficiency and viability of joint management.
- Linking urban and rural areas.
- Improving access to transport and communication networks.
- Infrastructure, by facilitating joint use.
- Administrative, employment and equal opportunities development.
