Synergies and Capitalisation
INTERACT supports further increases in the efficiency and success of European Territorial Cooperation, on themes such as innovation, the environment, transport and accessibility.
Knowledge management
Knowledge management is a set of tools and organisation that allows the most effective application and use of information. Yet, having information and know-how is not enough: the data needs to be filed correctly and interpreted in a way that it can useful. An example is the creation of a database, to record the results and balance the efficiency and effectiveness of projects. Databases are usually developed thanks to statistics tools that help to grasp the figures behind the content. In such a form, processed information can be easily handled, exchanged and further disseminated, thus supporting the communication and the capitalisation process. Knowledge management (KM) is applied in every area of working life and business, but in this section we will stick to the application of KM in European Territorial Cooperation.
Capitalisation
Capitalisation is a word very often connected to the world of finance and business because it recalls the term capital or capitalism. Its origins instead refer to the need of “writing something in capital letters” in order to highlight its importance and to distinguish it from previous statements. If we apply this idea to the capitalisation of projects and results, we will understand the idea that it is possibile to increase their size: in other words, the impact and importance of their outputs. A capitalised project is therefore an idea that has previously been developed, but which has still something to offer, something that can be put in capital letters. Capitalisation is encouraged by programme practitioners to be used as an instrument in ensuring the diversification of activities and a renewed effort in providing results and outputs that do not replicate previous ones, but that instead open up to new solutions and evolutions.
INTERACT Services
INTERACT organises training and networking events to share and disseminate the different practices, implemented by ETC programmes and public stakeholders, in the field of capitalisation. A dedicated section of the website will explore, in particular, the different approaches of several programme and project stakeholders, including pilot initiatives and experiments. INTERACT also collects experiences, approaches and practices into thematic documents like studies and papers.
