MT's geographic area includes the regions of the ten new Member States, the regions of the five EU 15 Member States with borders to the new Member States, and the EU external border regions included in the Neighbourhood Programmes under Tacis, Phare and CARDS. There are more than 30 INTERREG IIIA programmes involving corss-border cooperation, five INTERREG IIIB programmes with a transnational orientation and three IIIC programmes with an interregional thematic focus.
