Directing Local Initiatives in DE-PL-CZ Border Region towards Territorial Cooperation
Lead Partner: Barnim-Oderbruch Municipality
No of Project Partners (including Lead Partner): Five
Participating countries: Germany, Poland
ERDF allocated (EUR): 400 000.00
Project Duration: 01.06.05 - 31.05.08
Questions to be analysed by the Project
- Different management systems in the German and Polish municipal administrations (completely incompatible), resulting in inefficiency in cooperation.
- Little knowledge among lower level Polish and Czech municipalities about European cooperation, resulting in low intensity of practical cooperation and involvement in INTERREG.
- No trans-border experience with infrastructure planning and development and difficulties with trans-border spatial planning in INTERREG projects.
Objectives
- Establish a close communications network between the local and regional decision makers from economics, politics, tourism, training, culture, sport, youth, etc.
- Form a local initiative of 20 German and Polish municipalities in the border region of Eurodistrict "Mittlere Oder", evaluate the results and if they are borne out, transfer this methodology to German-Czech border regions and possibly to others.
- Set up a German-Polish service agency for the new Eurodistrict "Mittlere Oder" with focus on the stimulation of territorial cooperation
Expected outputs
- Creation of a close trans-border network of local stakeholders.
- Development of proven new structures and tools on the Polish and Czech side.
- Internet based trans-border multilingual communication and information system.
