Sharing INTERREG experiences
The INTERACT Project IONAS aims at creating a long lasting partnership between European ports and cites and ports and cites from the neighbouring countries in the Adriatic and Ionian area, in order to identify and face together the problems that emerge when cooperating with external borders within the INTERREG programme framework. This is to be achieved via the creation of a network which, through promotion and exchange of best practice ideas, will tackle three principal issues:

Specific Objectives
Objective 1: Better transport and logistics services in ports
Networking among Adriatic and Ionian ports for better transport and logistic services serving the Euro-Mediterranean maritime area.
Objective 2: Environment impact of ports activities and sustainable development
Networking among Adriatic and Ionian ports in order to monitor environment impact of ports activities and to guarantee sustainable development.
Objective 3: Joint cooperation between ports and cities
Networking among Adriatic and Ionian cities and ports in order to develop a better dialogue between these institutions.
Objective 4: Raising knowledge on the New Structural Funds and developing of skills for project management
Networking among Adriatic and Ionian Cities and Ports for the development of new project ideas, according to the opportunities given by the New Objective 3 - European Territorial Cooperation

Other partners: International Centre Cities on Water, Euro Sportello Veneto, Vienna Municipal Department for Environmental Protection, Cities of Ancona, Bari, Brindisi, Pescara, Thessaloniki, Koper, Split, Bar, Durres and the Port Authorities of Venice, Bari, Brindisi, Gioia Tauro, Thessaloniki, Corfu, Dubrovnik, Split, Bar, Durres, the Science and Research Centre of the University of Primorska in Slovenia, the Port of Koper and the AICCRE (Italian Association of the European Council of Cities and Regions)
