Sharing INTERREG experiences
This situation brings with it a corresponding set of challenges which the programmes are often the first to tackle. There is a great deal of work to be done on harmonising procedures and requirements and on coordinating project activities to ensure that optimal results are achieved. These tasks have become even more important because of the strict deadlines imposed on the programmes by the N+2 rule and de-commitment.
The seminar assessed the current implementation status of the programmes and the measures that were being taken to avoid problems. It was also recognised that measures to ensure quality were equally important so other subjects addressed included project generation and communication activities.
Number of participants: 64
Number of institutions present: 11 IIIB programmes and 4 IIIC programmes
Outcomes of event:
The first opportunity for the programmes to meet and compare the very different solutions they have found to the implementation questions they face. The event has suggested many useful areas for continued discussion and follow-ups will be launched in spring 2005. A discussion paper released before the event and a full report are now available from the Download section of this website. Subsequent to the event, the first steps were also taken towards forming networks of communication and finance staff for future exchange. The INTERACT Point will work further with them in 2005 and has now provided online forums for their communication.
