European Meeting Point: Energy for Development 2007

10.10. - 12.10. - Beja, Portugal

The "European Meeting Point: Energy for Development 2007", a major partnership event to promote technology and innovation for energy and climate, will take place from 10 to 12 October, in Beja, Portugal.

The event is organised by the Research Group on Energy and Sustainable Development - IDMEC Lisbon, in cooperation with the Polytechnic Institute of Beja. The European Meeting Point succeeds a conference series that, from 1994, every two years attracts around 200 participants to discuss innovative energy technologies, concepts and strategies.

The "European Meeting Point: Energy for Development 2007" gives the floor to progresses on bio-energy, energy services, sustainable energy communities, carbon-economy, energy citizenship and regional development. A "call for papers" is open until June 30 for the presentation of case-studies.

The "European Meeting Point: Energy for Development 2007" aims to facilitate the integration of the above mentioned areas into solution-oriented multidisciplinary European projects. The current timing, when new European Framework Programmes - CIP and FP7 - are emphasising energy and climate, give the event a key role in helping to deliver high profile breakthroughs.

Sustained by the need of solving energy imports and carbon targets, in Portugal energy is leading investment and driving economic growth. The meeting will be held in an illustrative region, Alentejo. Participants will have the opportunity to be in touch with local stakeholders and investment opportunities.
