INTERREG III

This section includes a number of resources related to INTERREG III, including programme information and maps, key legal documents and the regulatory framework for the 2000-2006 programming period.

INTERREG III was a Community Initiative which stimulated interregional cooperation in the EU from 2000 to 2006. It was financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

This INTERREG initiative was designed to strengthen economic and social cohesion throughout the EU, by fostering the balanced development of the continent through cross-border, transnational and interregional cooperation. Special emphasis was placed on integrating remote regions and those which share external borders with the new Member States.

The INTERACT Programme aimed to contribute to the quality of the INTERREG Community Initiative by enabling and encouraging the exchange of experiences and know-how, generated in INTERREG.
